Hey friends. I hope my post today finds you doing well and that you had a blessed Thanksgiving with those you love. Today, I’ll really go off the beaten path of investing talk onto other paths, namely hiking trails and the like.

My wife and I recently drove out west to see the sites, especially the national parks, of Arizona and Utah. Growing up watching westerns, I would always be mesmerized by the background scenery of buttes and mesas. Seeing them up close was truly amazing!

We were able to visit many places — Grand Canyon, Wupatki National Monument, Walnut Canyon National Monument, Sunset Crater, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, Monument Valley, Canyonlands National Park, Arches National Park, Capital Reef National Park, Zion National Park and Bryce National Park. We also spent some time in what we concluded after our trip was our favorite spot, Sedona, Arizona.

In Sedona, this aging man felt like a boy again hiking trails and climbing red rock formations like Cathedral Rock and Bell Rock. The evening we returned from the trip, there was an old (1954) western on TV called Drum Beat, starring Alan Ladd and Charles Bronson. It was filmed in Sedona and watching it so soon after having been in such a beautiful place was surreal, for lack of a better term.

Throughout our trip, we were continually amazed at this part (the southwest U.S.) of God’s creation. What we saw reveals the awesomeness of our Creator.

From Psalm 111: 3-4 (NIV, Bible)

Glorious and majestic are his deeds,
    and his righteousness endures forever.
He has caused his wonders to be remembered;
    the Lord is gracious and compassionate.

May God bless you, friends.
