Hey friends. It’s a beautiful time of year, isn’t it? In the deep south, October boasts of little rain, warm clear days and cool crisp nights. One can sense the coming of winter and the leaving of summer. This week, I offer a brief post simply sharing a couple of attention-grabbing articles that were forwarded to me by a friend this past week shortly after they were available online.

First, go here to read about how China’s effort to compel Saudi Arabia to accept the yuan in exchange for oil may threaten to change the current situation where the U.S. dollar serves as the world’s reserve currency. Next, go here to read about how leverage is increasing like it did before the last financial crisis.

Biblical financial stewardship involves using God’s financial resources to bring Him glory. The Parable of the Talents in Matthew 25: 14-30 teaches us not to be fearful and foolish but to act wisely to put God’s resources to work for His purposes. The articles I’m sharing today should not elicit fear and a sense of insecurity. Jesus Christ is God’s provision for my security.

What the articles do remind me to do is to pray for God’s wisdom that I won’t stick my head in the sand, so to speak, but that I’ll respond in a faithful manner in His wisdom. The articles remind me again to take to heart the admonitions proffered in Ethan Pope’s book, “Prepare.”

May God bless each of you.
