I’m sure you’ve read the words in my subject line before but they are important words. As we celebrate another Independence Day, it is surely a time to think on these words. So many lives have been surrendered for Americans to continue to claim the freedoms we hold dear. The costs to so many families across the generations implores our gratitude, respect, and remembrance. Our flag of freedom still waves today because God has blessed America greatly. The price of the freedoms we yet enjoy in America that are not enjoyed by many in the world has been paid by many brave patriots.

For me, this time of celebrating our independence in the United States is also a time to think on what God has done to bring eternal freedom from sin’s dominion.

In the Bible, Romans 3:23 states:

“for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”

Romans 6:23 states:

For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

And, the first part of Galatians 5:1 says:

It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.”

(All Scriptures above are from the New International Version, Bible)

Jesus Christ gave His life on the cross to pay off the debt of our sin against God. His resurrection proves His work was completed, sin’s power destroyed and the grave overcome forever. Yes, Jesus came to set us free; to set us free from sin’s penalty of separation from God and to set us free from its power over our lives. Jesus came to free me forever, but I must put my faith in Him alone to receive His salvation (eternal life). Indeed it is forever freedom that no one can take away. God’s salvation is free to me but it cost Him everything.

My friends, this year I’m so thankful for the multitude of sacrifices made by Americans to help defend and protect our liberties. Thank you to all of you striving to protect. I thank my Savior, Jesus Christ, for His infinite sacrifice to pay the debt of my sin and give me life eternal. May I always remember that Freedom is Never free!

May God bless each of you and Have a wonderful and blessed Independence Day.

See you next time.
